Sylvester Stallone Hails ‘Mythical’ Trump as ‘Second George Washington’ at Mar-a-Lago Gala
Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone compared President-elect Donald Trump to George Washington and his iconic film character Rocky Balboa during a black-tie gala at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday night hosted by the America First Policy Institute.
The event brought together Trump allies and high-profile nominees, including RFK Jr. and Matt Gaetz, to toast his recent election victory.
Taking the stage before Trump’s speech, Stallone drew parallels between Trump’s rise and Balboa.
“When I made Rocky, the first image was a picture of Jesus, and it said, ‘Resurrection, AC Club,’” Stallone said. “I found a church that had been converted into a boxing ring. The image pans from Jesus to Rocky being hit, and in that moment, he was the chosen person. That’s how I began the journey. Just like President Trump,” he began.
Stallone continued, lauding Trump as a larger-than-life figure: “We’re in the presence of a really mythical character… I love mythology. This individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe.”
The Rocky star concluded: “When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world. Without him, you could imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We got the second George Washington. Congratulations.”
Trump joined Stallone on stage, where the two embraced before the President-elect delivered his speech.
