The First 2014 World Cup Goal Was a ‘Nightmare’ for Brazil
In the ninth minute of play in the 2014 World Cup, we witnessed our first goal. And boy was it an ugly one for the host team.

The first matchup of the tournament started off in “nightmare” (the broadcaster’s words) fashion for Brazil, as their star Marcelo poked the ball into his team’s own net, giving Croatia the lead. That lead was erased several minutes later when Neymar scored for Brazil, but still: What an unpleasant way to begin, especially considering how many Brazilians are protesting the games as we speak.
