WATCH: Competitive Surfer Survives Attack by Punching Shark
Competitive surfer Mick Fanning survived a shark attack on live television this weekend.
Fanning was in the midst of a televised competition off the coast of South Africa when a fin emerged from the water behind him. He and the shark tussled as a wave came up, and Fanning emerged the victor, even getting a punch in:
The remainder of the J-Bay Open was canceled after the incident, though the competition tweeted that Fanning was okay:
