WATCH: Meghan McCain and Joy Behar Go At It Over ‘Moral Compromises’ of Trump, Clinton Defenders

The ladies on The View had a heated debate on Wednesday talking about how poorly Bill Clinton has handled the renewed attention surrounding his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

The panel began by reviewing Clinton’s interview with Stephen Colbert, in which the former president tried to do more damage control after saying that he doesn’t owe Lewinsky a personal apology over their infamous affair. As her colleagues discussed the lingering effects of Clinton’s transgressions, Meghan McCain wanted to know why Clintons keep getting passes from the media, and why the former president can’t do more to acknowledge his wrongdoings amid the #MeToo movement.

“It’s very obvious that the man who was once the great orator…is long gone,” McCain said. “You have to get away from the Clintons if the Democrats have any future whatsoever. Everything about them is problematic.”

Joy Behar agreed that Clinton’s actions set a low bar for the White House, but acknowledged that she still voted for him at the time. McCain hopped on that — saying it’s the exact same rationale Trump supporters used when they voted for him in 2016 despite everything they knew about his sexual misbehavior.

“People make moral compromises with things like this related to sex,” McCain said, shutting Behar down.

As the conversation moved on towards liberals and feminists who defended Clinton in the 90s, Whoopi Goldberg argued that Hillary Clinton has also been victimized because of her husband’s actions and allegations. As for McCain, she stuck to her argument that Lewinsky suffered the most because the Clinton affair made her a pariah for life.

“Forever she is known as the woman who went down in the White House if you will,” McCain said. “I feel much worse for her than I ever felt for Hillary Clinton.”
