WATCH: Stephen Colbert Interviews Eminem on Michigan Public Access

For no apparent reason other than the fact that his Late Show theater is still under construction and his insatiable thirst to be on TV needed to be quenched, Stephen Colbert traveled to Monroe, Michigan to fill in as guest host of Only in Monroe on local public access.

The beginning of the show essentially played like an extended version of The Colbert Report’s “Better Know a District” segment, but with fewer jokes. But a full 22 minutes later the host arrived at his interview with a local man “who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music”: Marshall Mathers, AKA Eminem.

If this is what the new Late Show is going to be like, it will be even weirder than David Letterman’s 1980 morning show.
