‘We Are Depending on You to Get to Work!’ Fox’s Emily Compagno Blasts Republicans Threatening to Blow Up Mike Johnson’s Speakership

Fox News’ Emily Compagno blasted the Republicans threatening to strip Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) of his gavel on Friday, reminding them that the country is “depending” on them to “get to work.”

“I think it lacks strategy and also substance, frankly. And that’s my whole issue with this,” submitted Compagno while discussing those who might vote against Johnson in Friday’s speakership vote.

“And that’s my whole issue with this. And we’ve been talking about it all morning, that the purpose is to legislate and you cannot get anything done without this pregame ritual. This is not the time to demonstrate petulance or some type of power over the will-be speaker-elect and in a couple of hours,” she continued. “I mean, the reality is, we are depending on you to get to work. We have talked about ad nauseum the mandate the American people have levied on this particular Congress, on this particular government, as to the refreshing new insight that we need, the refreshing-, the new breath of fresh air that we need. Yes, that is efficiency. Yes, that is cutting spending. But it is not in the form of, again, this pre-game ritual that will only hamstring everyone that we are depending on to get that legislative agenda passed after today.”

President-elect Donald Trump has endorsed Johnson and urged his colleagues to vote to keep him in power. In a post on Truth Social Friday morning, he wrote:

Good luck today for Speaker Mike Johnson, a fine man of great ability, who is very close to having 100% support. A win for Mike today will be a big win for the Republican Party, and yet another acknowledgment of our 129 year most consequential Presidential Election!! – A BIG AFFIRMATION, INDEED. MAGA!
