‘What the Hell Is He Doing?’ Capehart Piles on Durbin’s ‘Back of the Bus’ Slam
Filling in for Chris Matthews tonight, MSNBC contributor Jonathan Capehart led Hardball by going after Senator Dick Durbin for his “back of the bus” comment in reference to Republicans holding up Loretta Lynch‘s nomination to be Attorney General. And not only did Capehart lead the show with it, but he started out the segment by asking, “What the hell is he doing?”
Democratic strategist Steve McMahon slightly defended Durbin, arguing that he made some “absolutely legitimate points.” Michael Steele, on the other hand, said, Durbin’s “full of crap” for making those “absolutely ludicrous” comments.
He said this is just a “political squabble” and to “play the civil rights card and just throw around these phrases” is irresponsible.
Capehart observed that Durbin might be a “distraction to the real issue” now, echoing similar remarks by Roland Martin earlier today.
