‘You Are Very Very Welcome Here!’ UK PM Starmer Pointedly Gives Zelensky ‘Full Backing’ After Trump Oval Office Fight

United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to Downing Street on Saturday following the explosive exchange with President Donald Trump.

On Friday, Zelensky was kicked out of the White House by Trump after a tense exchange inside the Oval Office where the president and Vice President JD Vance accused the Ukraine leader of not being thankful for U.S. aid.

Since the exchange, leaders from all across Europe have pledged their support to Zelensky and offered to continue aid amid the Russian invasion into Ukraine.

On Saturday Starmer welcomed Zelensky to the official residence of the British prime minister, where he reaffirmed that Ukraine has “full backing” of the United Kingdom.

Well, let me just say that you’re very, very welcome here in Downing Street. And as you heard from the cheers on the street outside, you have full backing across the United Kingdom, and we stand with you with Ukraine for as long as it may take. And I hope you’ve heard some of that cheering in the street. That is, the people of the United Kingdom coming out to demonstrate how much they support you, how much they support Ukraine, and our absolute determination to stand with you, unwavering determination, to achieve what we both want to achieve, which is a lasting peace, a lasting peace for Ukraine.
