Fox News anchor Bret Baier is selling his Washington, D.C. house for a record $31.9 million after purchasing a home in Palm Beach, Florida for more than $37 million last year.
Baier and his wife, Amy, have listed their French chateau-style home with the most expensive residential sale price in the history of D.C. The property will reportedly be listed through real estate agent Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty.
He is one of the most recognizable faces on Fox News, serving as the network’s chief political anchor and executive editor of the show Special Report. The Wall Street Journal, a subsidiary company of News Corp, was first to report the news.
The couple paid $5.4 million for the property in 2018. However, they spent three years adding 16,250 square feet to the house, including five bedrooms. The total cost of the project was reportedly $30 million.
Starting in April 2022, the Baiers began living in the D.C. home, but also started visiting their Palm Beach house after buying it in the summer of 2022. Baier noted that after the pandemic, the family began spending more time in the Sunshine State where his children enjoy golfing.
“The move to Florida was a great adventure for our family, and the boys fell in love with it,” he told the WSJ.
The $31 million mansion sports seven bathrooms as well as two half bathrooms, heated floors, a home gym, a movie theater, an indoor sports court, and a golf simulator. According to the Washingtonian, the estate has a paved motor court sporting a fountain and a 56-foot-long heated pool along with two three-car garages.
“We created this private place where we could escape to and not worry about any intruders,” Amy Baier told the WSJ, noting the family prioritized security and privacy.
