GOP Lawmaker Chuckles and Claps as She’s Hit With Boos at Town Hall Over Musk Support

A Republican congresswoman turned to laughing and clapping in response to a fiery town hall crowd booing her over her support of Elon Musk.

At a town hall in Laramie, Wyoming, Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) was booed multiple times even as she tried calming the crowd.

As she tried to tell the audience that town halls are an opportunity to tell constituents what she’s up to in Washington, D.C., one heckler yelled out, “Nothing!”

“I get it that there are people here who dislike me, but there are also people here who want to hear what I have to say,” the lawmaker said to a mix of boos and cheers.

About 75% of the crowd of approximately 500 at the civic center were there to oppose Hagemen, according to a local report by Cowboy State Daily.

Hageman later smiled as she was booed for mentioning her support of a continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded. As Hageman said, she voted to “keep the lights on” for President Donald Trump, DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), and Elon Musk.

After name-dropping Musk, the booing became so loud that Hageman stopped talking for a moment to clap along with the noise.

“I voted in favor of the continuing resolution, or CR, which extends funding,” she said as the crowd booed, “for the fiscal year until Sept. 30.”

As the booing got more intense, she added, “It keeps the lights on for President Trump and DOGE to continue their work.”
