Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) came out against supporting squatters during an interview with the New York Post released on Saturday.

Outrage over squatters has begun to dominate conservative news media in recent weeks with numerous reports, including a story of how a New Yorker was detained for allegedly trying to remove squatters from her own home.

Fetterman claimed during a sit-down interview with the NY Post that he does not support squatters taking over an individual’s home before noting, “I am not woke.”

“Squatters have no rights,” Fetterman said. “How can you even pretend that this is anything other than you’re just breaking the law?”

“It’s wild, that if you go away on a long trip, for 30 days, and someone breaks into your home and suddenly they have rights,” he added. “This is crazy. Like if somebody stole your car, and then they held it for 30 days, then somehow you now have some rights?”

Back in March, two squatters were arrested of the death of a woman after her buddy was found in a duffle bag at her New York City apartment, according to The Post.

The Pennsylvania lawmaker also came out against progressive policies that give lighter sentences to repeat violent offenders. NYPD officer Jonathan Diller was allegedly killed last month by an individual who had 21 prior arrests.

“If this individual is convicted, then he should spend the rest of his life in prison, and never have an opportunity to get out,” Fetterman concluded. “If you have those kinds of established records, it doesn’t serve any greater goal to allow people that are offending, offending, offending and allow them to not be held accountable.”
