Megyn Kelly came under fire on social media Monday by some conservative women after she encouraged them to lead independent financial lives while balancing family and romance.
The SiriusXM host took to her X page to make a plea to women in general, which was more or less not to “settle” for anything less than what they deserved and desired.
Kelly wrote, “Ladies, it is possible to make your own money, have your own career, pay for your own swanky nyc apartment (etc), AND find a man who loves you, wants to have & raise kids w/you & wants to be w/you and only you. The only thing stopping you? Your decision to settle for less.”
The post went viral, garnering more than 1.3 million views within just about six hours. While many X users appreciated Kelly’s advice — the post currently has more than 33,000 likes — some women on the right blasted the former Fox News and NBC anchor. Here is a small sample of some of the reactions:
Former One America News anchor Stephanie Hamill commented:
I respect @megynkelly and I’m a regular listener of her show— with that being said, this may be one of The most Toxic and Delusional posts I’ve seen all week. I’m a month out from giving birth and I have a toddler. I can assure you, I’m not in boss babe mode. I’m surviving, even with house help. Just guessing this tweet was in response to the Ashely St. Clair / Elon Baby drama? All babies are blessings— it’s better to have babies with your husband and someone exclusively devoted to you.
It would be interesting to know more about Megyn’s child care support system, especially when her kids were babies. Did her family help? How many hours a day did she have a nanny or daycare? How much house help? I remember Megyn admitting she doesn’t cook during a Thanksgiving show episode, (so what do they eat?) does her husband cook? Do they eat take out frequently? Private chef etc… This type of post puts very unrealistic pressure on most mothers…
