Trump Strongly Hints That Ronna McDaniel is Cooked as RNC Chair: ‘There’ll Probably Be Some Changes Made’
Former President Donald Trump did not exactly give RNC chair Ronna McDaniel a vote of confidence — strongly hinting that her time in the post may be coming to an end.
In an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, anchor Maria Bartiromo confronted Trump about the RNC’s cash woes amid new filings which show the RNC began the year with just $8 million on hand.
“RNC doesn’t seem to be so strong,” Bartiromo said. “The Democrats have all the money.”
Trump suggested that donors are withholding contributions to the RNC because they are not satisfied with the current leadership.
“The money that they get — people are not looking at the RNC,” Trump said. “They want they want changes. You have to understand, I have nothing to do with the RNC.”
But while Trump tried to distance himself, Bartiromo, at the top of the segment, that the former president is “about to take a larger role” with the RNC.
The Fox News anchor then asked, “How’s Ronna McDaniel doing?”
Trump’s response revealed a shakeup is imminent.
“I think she did great when she ran Michigan for me,” Trump said. “I think she did okay, initially, in the RNC. I would say right now, there’ll probably be some changes made.”
McDaniel tried to appeal to Trump with her recent call for Nikki Haley to drop out of the presidential race after the New Hampshire primary. But it seems that last ditch effort might be enough to save her job.
