Trump Torches Biden for Commuting ‘Death Sentence on 37 of the Worst Killers in Our Country’

President-elect Donald Trump torched President Joe Biden on Christmas Eve for commuting the sentence of 37 of the 40 inmates currently on the federal government’s death row, musing that they are “37 of the worst killers in our Country” and predicting that “when you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this.”

On Monday, Biden announced that he was “commuting the sentences of 37 of the 40 individuals on federal death row to life sentences without the possibility of parole.”

“Make no mistake: I condemn these murderers, grieve for the victims of their despicable acts, and ache for all the families who have suffered unimaginable and irreparable loss,” the president continued. “But guided by my conscience and my experience as a public defender, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Vice President, and now President, I am more convinced than ever that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level. In good conscience, I cannot stand back and let a new administration resume executions that I halted.”

Among those to have their sentences commuted is Jorge Avila-Torrez, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting, abusing, and murdering eight-year-old Laura Hobbs and nine-year-old Krystal Tobias before he also strangled 20-year-old naval officer Amanda Snell.

Trump blasted Biden over his decision to offer mercy to Avila-Torrez and those who have committed similar crimes in a post on Truth Social.

“Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our Country. When you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this,” Trump wrote. “Makes no sense. Relatives and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening!”

Biden’s mass commutation of those on death row followed his controversial pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, who had been convicted on tax and gun charges. He had previously promised not to pardon the younger Biden.
