On Thursday, CIA Director Mike Pompeo spoke at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. During the speech Pompeo slammed into Wikileaks and Julian Assange. Perhaps most damningly, he repeatedly asserted that the organization acts like “a non-state, hostile intelligence service.”
Saying Wikileaks is “perplexing and deeply troubling,” Pompeo added that “individuals such as Julian Assange and Edward Snowden seek to use [intelligence] information to make a name for themselves” and “care nothing about the damage they cause to national security.”
You may recall that during the 2016 campaign, Trump said, “I love Wikileaks.”
In what sounded like an attempt to generate a catchphrase for talking about Wikileaks, at one point Pompeo said that “their currency is clickbait.”
