Anti-War Protester “Tackled To The Ground” In Front Of John McCain

Last night, after a televised debate in the Arizona senate race, a woman was knocked to the ground by a member of John McCain’s security team after rushing towards the senator holding an anti-war protest sign. Video of the event, captured by local TV crews, is now making the rounds online.

The situation occurred as McCain was leaving his debate with challenger Rodney Glassman. A woman, wearing a shirt reading “Do I look undocumented?” ran towards the candidate, brandishing a sign and yelling “McCain has got to go.” As the video shows, a man (presumably a member of McCain’s staff) quickly pushes her out of the way before she topples to the ground. Afterwards, the woman gets back up and begins yelling to the camera about how a peaceful protester is treated roughly while a “warmonger” is allowed to go freely.

While many reports of the story describe the woman as being “tackled,” it looks to this writer more like the woman tripped over the curb as the security guard was just doing his job. Still though, the senator’s prominence in the video is likely to get it some play throughout the day.
