Amid all the allegations against him from multiple women, Bill Cosby has parted ways with his alma mater, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, after the university made the decision to cut ties with the comedian.
Cosby attended UMass Amherst and earned a degree from the university (as a Doctor of Education) in 1976. Last year, Amherst launched a big capital campaign called “UMass Rising,” aimed at raising $300 million.
Cosby was made one of the honorary alumni co-chairs of the campaign, along with former GE CEO Jack Welch and others.
But now, in a statement, a UMass Amherst spokesman said, “Bill Cosby has agreed to resign as an honorary co-chair of UMass Amherst’s capital campaign. He no longer has any affiliation with the campaign nor does he serve in any other capacity for the university.”
Cosby was recently removed from the board of advisors at High Point University.
