Cindy Sheehan: “I’m A 9/11 Truther, I Do Think It Was An Inside Job”

Cindy Sheehan, who became a vocal and respected anti-war activist after her son was killed in the Iraq war, has declared “I’m a 9/11 Truther, I do think it was an inside job.” Oof. So much for credibility.

Dave Weigel at Slate thinks there may be a warning here for the Tea Party movement: “I am not, not, not making a one-to-one comparison here, but there is a lesson for tea party activists who are currently and unquestioningly the toast of the conservative elite and the GOP.”

Though perhaps the admission shouldn’t come as such a shock. In his book The Great Derangement Matt Taibbi talks about attending a Sheehan rally in 2005 and finding that some of her supporters were “abuzz with nut-job conspiracy theories accusing Bush of masterminding 9/11.” So, fair warning, I guess.
