CNN Voter Panel of Clinton Supporters Implore Hillary to Not to Meddle in the 2020 Race: ‘Stay Away!’
One day after stating for the first time that she is not running for president in 2020, Hillary Clinton is being urged by a group of her 2016 backers to stay away from the campaign altogether.
In a segment which aired Tuesday morning on New Day, co-host Alisyn Camerota assembled a voter panel (taped prior to Clinton’s announcement that she won’t run) comprised entirely of Clinton 2016 supporters. Between the six of them, not one voiced a preference for the former Secretary of State to be involved with the upcoming campaign.
“Does Hillary have a role in 2020?” Camerota said. “Should she campaign?”
Two of the panelists emphatically said no, while the other four remained silent in apparent agreement.
“I love you, Hillary!” said panelist Christian Tamte. “I love you, I love you. But stay away! We are so divided right now that anything that has Hillary on it is automatically going to separate us again.”
“I just think her time is done,” panelist Mary Reaman added. “I think it’s been … it’s done. We do need something new.”
Also worth noting from the CNN focus group, none of the six Clinton supporters wanted former Vice President Joe Biden to run.
