CNN’s Camerota Takes Heat For Calling Out ‘Dumbass Colleges’ That Rejected David Hogg

CNN’s Alisyn Camerota is facing something of a backlash after she called out the colleges who decided not to accept Parkland, Florida student turned gun control advocate David Hogg.
The shooting survivor and student activist appeared on CNN’s New Day this morning in order to talk about his feud with Laura Ingraham, the Fox News host who recently taunted him for getting rejected from several schools he applied to. Since Hogg has a high grade point average and has become a major public figure since the attack on his high school, Camerota wondered “What kind of dumbass colleges don’t want you?!”
Of course, universities are under no specific obligation to accept Hogg, and quite a few conservatives on Twitter were unhappy with Camerota’s opinionated comments:
The kind that look at grades and academics, not activism? https://t.co/S9YUHHfQu4

Well CNN did it. White privilege is real and is so perfectly summed up in this clip. I’m officially woke. https://t.co/eonsCgt4r2

Oh ho, okay, so the official CNN Twitter account also thought it was worth highlighting https://t.co/hRPxcHCZXg

Thank God CNN and Alisyn Camerota are fighting for privileged cis white males now that kids from marginalized groups face zero barriers getting into colleges https://t.co/KWTMOKl3VJ

“David Hogg should be accepted into every single college he applied to, regardless of the admission criteria set by those colleges, because he’s entitled to it.” https://t.co/fAUKRPPjJk

I’m stunned too. Colleges are activist breeding grounds now. You’d figure they’d be jumping all over Hogg. https://t.co/z7tg772Dga

What’s shocking is @CNN itself is circulating this clip like it’s some highlight they’re proud of. ?? https://t.co/pqJoyysdEd

And now colleges will be intimidated by the mob.
It never ends. https://t.co/decygy6VNx

Perhaps the harshest bit of criticism came from Hogg’s classmate: pro-gun student Kyle Kashuv.
24/7 cheerleaders. It must feel kinda cool. https://t.co/7Wr4JgtyIM
