CNN’s New Day Blasts Kellyanne Conway For ‘Weird Threats’ Against Dana Bash: ‘Completely Out of Control’

Sunday on CNN, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway mixed it up with Dana Bash after the CNN anchor asked about Tweets from Conway’s husband George which have been critical of President Donald Trump. Conway said she felt Bash’s questions were “meant to harass and embarrass.”

Monday morning on New Day, Alisyn Camerota stood up for her CNN colleague, and blasted Conway for saying spouses are off-limits in political debate — given Trump’s penchant for bringing the spouses of his political foes into the conversation.

“Let’s just remember for one second that it is also President Trump who has gone after [Sen.] Ted Cruz‘s (R-TX) wife, [former FBI deputy director] Andrew Mccabe‘s wife,” Camerota said. “So Kellyanne Conway saying ‘you never go after the spouse,’ tell your boss.”

CNN contributor Margaret Hoover called Conway’s response to Bash “ugly.”

“Clearly, it hit a nerve,” Hoover said. “I don’t think Kellyanne fought fair there. I thought it was really — it was a little ugly the way she responded to Dana.”

“What’s so offensive about this?” CNN contributor Kirsten Powers added. “[Conway] immediately goes to that she’s under attack and starts making these weird threats.”

“Bizzare,” Hoover said.

Powers suggested that Conway might have been using the incident to score points.

“It was just completely out of control and it just didn’t make any sense except for the fact that either it touched a nerve, and/or she’s using it as an opportunity to impress her boss because she can be really nasty to CNN,” Powers said.
