Following Senatorial candidate Todd Akin‘s comments about “legitimate rape,” Crossroads GPS has acknowledged that it is pulling its ads from Missouri’s Senate race, Politico confirms:
Contacted about the decision to withdraw its resources from Missouri, Crossroads spokesman Nate Hodson responded: “The act speaks for itself.”
The group had ads slated to air to air this Wednesday, but began canceling them today. Akin, you’ll recall, told Jaco Report host Charles Jaco over the weekend that, “First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
UPDATE: Roll Call reporter David Drucker has confirmed that the National Republican Senatorial Committee will pull a $5 million television reservation in Missouri if Rep. Akin does not drop out of the race by Tuesday.
