Federal Prosecutors Say Paul Manafort Lied to FBI in Breach of Plea Agreement

Robert Mueller‘s team has submitted a new court filing which claims that Paul Manafort violated his plea agreement by lying to investigators “on a variety of subject matters.”

“After signing the plea agreement, Manafort committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel’s Office on a variety of subject matters, which constitute breaches of the agreement,” the filing reads. It goes on to say that Mueller’s team will ask a judge to sentence Manafort for lying to the special counsel.

If Manafort is found to be lying under oath, it’s possible that his deal with Mueller will be revoked and he could be charged with perjury in addition to his tax fraud and conspiracy convictions.
