Neil Armstrong, the astronaut who became the first man to work on the moon, died today at the age of 82.
Armstrong landed on the moon with the rest of the Apollo 11 crew on July 20, 1969, when he famously stated, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
In 2010, Armstrong co-signed an open letter expressing disappointment with the Obama administration’s decision to scale back the U.S. space program.
