GOP Candidate Issues Threat to PA Gov. Tom Wolf: I’ll ‘Stomp All Over Your Face With Golf Spikes’
In a video released by his campaign, Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner threatened to stomp on his Democratic opponent and the Pennsylvania’s current governor with “golf spikes.”
“Governor Wolf, let me tell you what, between now and Nov. 6, you better put a catcher’s mask on your face, because I’m going to stomp all over your face with golf spikes,” Wagner said in the video, which he released as polls show that he is 22 points underwater in the race. “Because I’m going to win this for the state of Pennsylvania, and we’re throwing you out of office.”
He continued by noting how “sick and tired” he is of Governor Tom Wolf’s “negative ads.”
“Governor Wolf, I am bound and determined, I am going to vote you out of office,” Wagner concluded.
Wagner’s campaign told a local news outlet that the candidate’s threat is “not to be taken literally.”
“He wanted them to be a metaphor for how he will approach the final stretch of the campaign,” added Wagner’s spokesman Andrew Romeo.
Wolf’s campaign opted to joke about the video.
“Was Wagner channeling John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, or Rambo in his latest unhinged rant?” Wolf’s spokeswoman Beth Melena said in a statement to The Daily Beast, which included a video showing Wagner comparing those action figures to himself.
