GOP Rep. Tells Hannity He Plans to Meet with Trump to Relay Info from Julian Assange

Earlier this month, it was reported that Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) had met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. In a statement about the meeting, Rohrabacher — who is perhaps the most pro-Russia lawmaker in Washington — stated that Assange assured him that the Russians were not involved in the hacking of emails from Hillary Clinton‘s campaign or the Democratic National Committee.

Rohrabacher also said that he wanted to personally brief President Donald Trump about the Assange meeting, leading some to express concerns that perhaps the lawmaker was attempting to set up a WikiLeaks backchannel to the White House. During an appearance on The Sean Hannity Show yesterday, Rohrabacher told host Sean Hannity that the meeting looks to be scheduled with Trump.

“It is my understanding from other parties who are trying to arrange a rendezvous with myself and the President, it is being arranged for me to give him the firsthand information from [Assange],” Rohrabacher stated.

He also told Hannity — who has offered Assange a guest hosting spot on his show — that “there is a meeting arranged, and I forgot the exact day it is right now, but it’s coming up.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the California Republican also let it be known that Assange had explained that the hack came from inside the DNC and that once Americans realize that the probe into Russian election interference and potential collusion with Trump associates is a “con job” they will be “upset.”
