GOP Senator Chuck Grassley Calls Trump’s Comments on Wind Power ‘Idiotic’

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) had some criticism of President Donald Trump‘s comments last night about wind power.

Trump riffed about wind power and windmills at a Republican fundraiser last night, even making the very strange claim that the noise causes cancer.

In a call with reporters today, per the Des Moines Register and the AP, Grassley went off on POTUS’ remarks:

“I’m told that the White House respects my views on a lot of issues,” Grassley said. “(Trump’s) comments on wind energy — not only as a president but when he was a candidate — were, first of all, idiotic, and it didn’t show much respect for Chuck Grassley as the grandfather of the wind energy tax credit.”

Grassley’s made his feelings on the subject known before. In 2016, after Trump railed against wind farms on the campaign trail, the senator told Yahoo News, “If he wants to do away with it, he’ll have to get a bill through Congress, and he’ll do it over my dead body.”
