Greta Van Susteren Defends Trump from National Review: The Polls Are On His Side
Despite Donald Trump Twitter-sniping at her yesterday, Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren came to his defense against National Review‘s huge anti-Trump symposium today.
Firstly, she echoed Trump’s own criticisms of National Review by citing the polls and saying they’re basically irrelevant:
National Review says subliminally "we are irrelevant" – the polls show most Republicans want @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/qEX0tDjK6i

This line of argument really bothered National Review writer Charles C.W. Cooke:
@greta Are you under the impression that NR exists to parrot the transient folly of pluralities?

And Van Susteren responded by actually questioning whether all these hardcore conservative writers aren’t as worried about Bernie Sanders:
knowing Buckley's writings,I would think you would be more worried about a socialist / Sanders https://t.co/hDyPjV3qzU

She even set up a poll on her website encouraging people to vote on whether National Review is more worried about Trump or Sanders. (It’s worth noting here that one of the symposium writers––Erick Erickson––made it clear from the outset that as much as he dislikes Trump, he would choose her over Hillary Clinton [and presumably Sanders too]).
Cooke fired back:
Because I’m able to hold more than one thought simultaneously, I can oppose both charlatans and socialists. https://t.co/6OCPrvNwEa

Funny that nobody told me I had to blindly listen to the people when Barack Obama was re-elected with a second popular vote majority.

“We don’t think Trump should be the nominee.”
“But he’s winning.”
“That’s why we published.“

Sanders must be right. I support him fully now. To oppose him would be elitist and anti-the-People. #Sanders16 https://t.co/5kYfeygtiG

Everyone is a loser except for Sanders.
