HuffPo Staffer Apologizes to Nate Silver for Accusing Him of Overstating Trump’s Chances
One of Huffington Post’s top staffers has apologized to FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver in light of the increasing probability that Donald Trump will become America’s next president.
Over the weekend, HuffPo’s Washington bureau chief, Ryan Grim, penned a highly critical piece about how Silver was putting his thumb on the scales for Trump with his Election Day projections. Silver responded by going on a blistering Twitter tirade about how Grim’s article was “idiotic and irresponsible,” and that the man himself has “no fucking idea” what he’s talking about.
As various poll indicators tracked Trump’s expanding path to the White House throughout Election Night, Grim offered this tweet to Silver:
.@NateSilver538 Yes. You were right that there was far more uncertainty than we were accounting for. I apologize. Gonna stick to punditry.
