Internet Funnyman Rob Delaney: Truth, Sunshine, and Comedy Can Defeat Trump

RobTrumpIn an interview with The A.V. Club published Thursday, comedian Rob Delaney discussed the current election and why he thinks that if Donald Trump became the nominee he would be defeated.

Delaney said once Trump secured the nomination, “the tide will turn against him.” Republicans who dislike him, he argued, haven’t really been able to marshal their resources fighting him “because that’s like punching yourself in the face.” He continued:

Once he were to get the nomination, I think that there would be weaponry figuratively trained upon him that he would not be able to withstand. Those weapons would include things like truth, sunlight, dissemination of easy-to-find information that would defeat him becoming the president.

Asked if comedy would be another such weapon that would accomplish Trump’s demise, Delaney replied: “Definitely.”

During the 2012 general election, Delaney created a series of tweets mocking GOP nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan, which were illustrated by the artist @pants.
