Just When It Was Getting Interesting, Jeb Bush Ends 2012 Speculation

Jeb Bush says he is not running for President in 2012. The speculation that he might has been ramping up in the last week, not the least because he has a proven track record and has maintained his popularity without succumbing to the Tea Party trend. In short: he’s a Republican who has broad appeal and could feasibly give President Obama a run for his money.

Alas for Bush supporters the dream of another Bush presidency is not to be. During a fundraising event in Kentucky earlier today Bush told reporters “flatly”: “I am not running for president.”

Of course, flatly or otherwise, Bush has plenty of time to change his mind. Early (ish) days yet.
