Mike Tyson Opens Up About Being Sexually Assaulted as a Child

During an interview on The Opie Show on Sirius XM, boxer Mike Tyson startled the hosts by revealing that he had been briefly kidnapped and sexually assaulted as a child.

“I was a little kid, 7,” Tyson told co-host Jim Norton during the interview, saying an “old man” had snatched him off the street once and assaulted him.

“He abused you and just let you go? Or did you escape?” Norton asked.

“Well, I ran,” Tyson said. He never saw the man again after that incident.

While the hosts seemed somewhat uncomfortable with the revelations (one can be heard muttering “Awk-waaaard” in the background), Tyson seemed at peace with his past, and was comfortable discussion his history of depression and his inner demons. “I’m not embarrassed or ashamed of anything from that perspective,” he told the hosts.

In a statement, a representative for Tyson said that the former champion “is in a good place in his life with sobriety, family and career.”
