No, Dave Chappelle is Not a Donald Trump Supporter

Over the weekend, the New York Observer published an article about a surprise comedy show Dave Chappelle did in New York over the weekend. The headline read “Dave Chappelle Defends Trump, Rips Clinton: ‘She’s Not Right and We All Know It.'”

The article took bits and pieces of the comedian’s set, which we shouldn’t need to remind you was stand up comedy. Of Hillary Clinton, he said, “She’s not right and we all know she’s not right,” and he referred to Donald Trump as “gangsta candidate ever.” The Observer seemed to take his comedy set as an endorsement for the candidate. TMZ caught up with Chappelle in New York, where he confirmed that that’s definitely not the case.

When he found out people think he’s a Trump supporter, he said, “Jesus Christ. I’m not a Trump Supporter… Unequivocally no.”

He continued, reminding people to vote.

The TMZ reporter said, “So, everyone just took it weirdly?”

Chappelle rolled his eyes and said, “Well, it was from the Observer.” Then, he walked away.

Enough said.
