Parent-Suing Cheerleader Files Restraining Order Against Boyfriend Her Parents Hated
Sometimes, parents act in the best interests of their children, even if those children sue their parents for college tuition because they won’t let them party and drink. Rachel Canning, the 18-year-old cheerleader who attempted to sue her parents for money while claiming they abused her, is learning that the hard way: she was forced to take out a restraining order against the boyfriend her parents wouldn’t let her date, after he reportedly attempted to choke her.
(Thumbs up for parents.)
NJ.com reports that Canning filed a temporary restraining order against Lucas Kitzmiller, 18, for “choking her with his hands during a dispute early Sunday morning.” Kitzmiller requested to postpone his hearing as his lawyer, Steven Caputo, was out of town. (Funny story, Caputo was the person who encouraged Canning to sue her parents.)
While Kitzmiller’s hearing will be open to the public, the restraining order and documents related to the case will be confidential, due to the nature of the case itself. “This is a private matter,” Rachel’s father Sean said in a statement. “We want to let everything die down and go back to our private lives.”
