Here’s a little bit of levity to help you enjoy your Saturday night.
A female peacock made its way into a Los Angeles liquor store this week, and it managed to destroy about $500 worth of alcohol before it was finally captured.
The bird got inside the Royal Oaks Liquor Store on Monday, and it got to do about 90 minutes of browsing before anyone took notice. Manager Rani Ghanem spoke to Associated Press about the incident, saying he had no idea the peacock was in the store until a customer asked him what was up with “el pollo,” Spanish for “the chicken.”
Ghanem tried to get it out, but he decided to call animal control when the bird eventually flew up and perched on one of the store’s top shelves. An officer arrived and tried catching the peacock with a fishing net, but the bird tried to evade by jumping around a countertop full of bottles, sending several of them crashing down.
Ghanem and the officer eventually caught the creature, and they released it out into the world.
“He’s got expensive taste,” said Ghanem. “I’m like, ‘You break, you buy, dude.’ But clearly he didn’t. He got away with it.”
