Bar Comes Under Fire for Sign Joking About Domestic Violence

A Philadelphia bar has come under fire for putting a sign outside inviting people in with a joke about domestic violence. On a sign outside BarLy, someone wrote, “I like my beer like I like my violence. Domestic.”

A person who claimed responsibility for the sign told NBC10 they took it down a few hours after it went up after receiving complaints, though they admitted, “I personally didn’t think it was offensive.”

BarLy put out a statement on its Facebook page apologizing for the sign.

BarLy is sincerely sorry for the very offensive sign that was posted earlier today. In no way does BarLy condone domestic violence nor do we find it humorous. We have taken immediate action to address the very poor judgment made by one of our team members and have terminated their position with BarLy. We are sorry to everyone who was offended.
