Red Hen Yelp-Bombed With One and Five Star Reviews After Owner Boots Sarah Sanders

The Yelp account for a Virginia restaurant was flooded on Saturday after the news broke that White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was booted from Red Hen, a small farm-to-table restaurant in Lexington, Virginia.

“Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so,” Sanders wrote in a now-viral tweet.

The owner of the restaurant, Stephanie Wilkinson, told The Washington Post that she would do it again.

“Absolutely, yes, I would have done the same thing again,” the Red Hen owner said. “We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions. This appeared to be one.”

On Yelp, the reviews were all politics, with both one and five star reviews reflecting not the food, but the controversy of the day.

“Thank God that respectable business owners are not forced to violate their good conscience by serving someone who is immoral. God Bless America and Freedom!” Bib G. wrote.

Michael L. disagreed, writing, “Appalled at how disrespectful they were to President Trump’s staff. So…this means they discriminate against others too!”

Another Yelper wrote, ““Despicable and outlandish behavior. The only thing served here … if they agree to serve you … is a heaping plate of arrogance and hypocrisy.”

Don’t expect the reviews to last for long, however, Yelp is already in active clean-up mode.
