Trey Pearson is, like all of us, many things all at once. He is a father. He is a husband. He is 35. He is the lead singer of a successful Christian rock band called Everyday Sunday. He is also gay.
Pearson is from Ohio, which is where his band is based out of and where (614) Magazine is published. The magazine is all about the cultural goings-on in and around Columbus. He and (614) writer Travis Hoewischer released the coming-out letter he wrote for his friends and family together.

(The magazine features passages from his letter along with his commentary, but WaPo has the full letter here.)
People around Ohio and, indeed, the entire country, have taken notice. ABC 6’s Lu Ann Stoia spoke to him after his declaration in (614) made such a splash:
Of course, he is worried about the reaction of his fans and fellow believers, but there is one thing he’s not worried about. To Stoia, he said, “I have no problem being gay and being a Christian. I believe Jesus absolutely loves me they way I am. He created me this way.”
His timing couldn’t be better, either; June is LGBT pride month and this year, Pearson will be headlining Columbus’ pride celebration at Goodale Park.
