Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is the latest political figure to be ambushed by angry protestors in a public setting, this time over his support for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
In a video shared by the Twitter account Smash Racism DC, it appears Cruz was dining with his wife Heidi Cruz when several protestors approached their table. One protestor got uncomfortably close to his face.
“Excuse me,” Cruz calmly told the man standing within inches in front of him.
One female protestor is heard telling the Texas senator, “Beto is way hotter than you.”
That is obviously in reference to Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), who is facing off against Cruz in the 2018 midterms.
As the crowd chanted “We believe survivors,” Cruz responded by saying “God bless you” and continued towards the exit.
“Excuse me, let my wife through,” Cruz told the protestors.
And as soon as they left the restaurant, the protestors cheered, but were immediately told to leave by the establishment.
Here is another clip of the hostile interaction.

This isn’t the first time protestors have confronted Republicans and Trump allies. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Florida Attorney General Pat Bondi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and White House advisor Stephen Miller have been previously targeted by these protestors.
