The Supreme Leader Of Iran Is Now On Instagram, Yes, Really

Political figures are always keen on expanding their online profile so their fans and supporters can see what they are up to. And now, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, has created an account on Instagram, because nothing screams “hipster” quite like “old Iranian cleric.”

Khamenei already has over 800 followers, and has so far posted only five photos. Fox News briefly summarizes the Grand Ayatollah’s surprising social media move.

Since joining the photo sharing site a week ago Ayatollah Khamenei has been uploading images of prayer services and meetings, each with trendy filters to give them that old-school authentic look…

The supreme leader is featured in all of the photos which means he must have people to snap the shots on his behalf.

But we’re sure he gets ultimate control over filters, contrast and tilt shift.

Comments on Khamenei’s photos have ranged from innocent comments like “Allah bless ayatollah khamenei” to “And what do you want for the holocaust my boy?”
