Tweeted Too Soon: WaPo Publisher Declares Richard Cohen Column ‘Brilliant’
Richard Cohen’s column in today’s Washington Post sent the Twitter machine into overdrive Tuesday morning, after his line about how “people with conventional views must surpress a gag reflex” whenever they see an interracial couple like New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio and wife Chirlane McCray went viral. (Oh, and should Cohen mention McCray used to be a lesbian? Cuz he did.)
But the comment was 2/3 of the way down an otherwise humdrum piece of concern-trolling about Chris Christie and his prospects for making it through the fiery filter of the 2016 GOP primary, which Washington Post publisher Katharine Weymouth was all for:

Weymouth tweeted the link late last night, and it got no particular notice until the column became toxic this morning. At that point, tweeples alternated between asking if she had even read the piece to calling on her to fire Cohen (and in one case get him professional help):

Full disclosure: this writer called on Cohen to be fired months ago.
