Twitter Briefly Blocked Sheriff David Clarke After He Called for Media to ‘TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD’

Sheriff David Clarke was briefly in Twitter jail on Monday — thanks to a tweet in which he fired some violent rhetoric towards the media.
In a now-deleted message, the former Milwaukee sheriff posted the following to his account:
BREAKING NEWS! When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up FAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is go right at them. Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD. Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA’S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood #neverbackdown.
A Mediaite tipster contacted us to let us know they had reported the tweet. Our tipster sent us this response from the social media giant’s support site:
“Thank you for contacting us about this issue.
We have reviewed the account you reported and have locked it because we found it to be in violation of the Twitter Rules: https://support.twitter.com/articles/18311. If the account owner complies with our requested actions and stated policies, the account will be unlocked.”
Mediaite was unable to confirm this information with Twitter. But CNN was able to verify that Clarke’s account was temporarily placed in read-only mode until Clarke deleted the tweet quoted above, and two others which used similar rhetoric against the media. CNN noted a Twitter rule that users “may not make specific threats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm, death, or disease of an individual or group of people.”
The former Milwaukee sheriff deleted the offending tweets, and was permitted back on the site Tuesday morning.
Get ready for the 2018 battle for the midterm elections. GOP must keep both houses of Congress to keep the @realDonaldTrump agenda and vision for America alive. It’s going to be a battle. Saddle up! pic.twitter.com/HECZGmKPfw
