Two Refugees Living in U.S. Arrested by Feds For Terror-Linked Activity

Two Palestinian-born refugees who had been living in the United States were arrested by the feds Thursday on terror-related charges. The two men do not appear to be linked to one another, as one was arrested in Sacramento and the other Houston; however, as CNN reports, “both of them are accused of lying to immigration officials about their alleged ties to terrorist organizations.”

23-year-old Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab was charged in Sacramento with making false statements about ties to suspected international terrorism groups, and in Houston authorities apprehended 24-year-old Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan for providing remote support to ISIS.

The Justice Department indicated late Thursday that Hardan entered the UNited States in November 2009 from Iraq and was granted legal permanent status within two years. Hardan faces a 20 year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine if convicted. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
