WATCH: Chris Cuomo Tangles With Giuliani Over Trump Pardons as Part of Wild, Marathon Showdown
“Joe Arpaio. Scooter Libby. Dinesh D’Souza. Maybe even Martha Stewart.” Chris Cuomo said — rattling off the names one by one.
Then, he asked the million dollar question:
“You would pardon these people?”
Rudy Giuliani — the man tapped to help launch Cuomo Primetime on Monday night — had already helped produce the fireworks CNN honchos were undoubtedly hoping for. And at the 23-minute mark of his wild, off-the-rails showdown with Cuomo, the former New York City Mayor gave an response which set off yet another fiery exchange.
“Each one of them, yes,” Giuliani said.
Bingo. More fireworks.
“Martha Stewart…that’s a damn game [on the part of James Comey] to get yourself in the newspapers,” Giuliani said. He added, “Arpaio, I don’t know the case that well except it seemed to me it was highly, highly political, as was D’Souza. And Scooter Libby had already been commuted. That investigation was completely wacko.”
“Rudy, Arpaio openly flouted the law on purpose even when he was told not to,” Cuomo said, firing back. “Dinesh D’Souza signed a plea agreement admitting that broke the law! Admitting that he lied! Martha Stewart, I covered every day of that trial. She was a convicted liar. It seems like you want to send the message, lying is okay.”
This was only one notable moment from the bonkers interview. We’ll have another post coming shortly. But in the meantime, watch a portion of the insane battle above, via CNN.
