President Trump will give a speech today where he will become the first sitting U.S. president to speak before Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit. The speech is scheduled for 10:10 a.m. EST.
Trump’s address before the conservative Christian organization is likely to gravitate around his support and executive orders pertaining to freedom of religion. Evangelical and faith-invested voters are frequently thought to be among Trump’s most loyal supporters.
“Values voters have waited eight years for a leader who puts America’s mission first and respects the values that made America into a great nation,” said FRC president Tony Perkins in a public statement. “Values voters are coming to our nation’s capital thankful to hear from a president who is fulfilling the promises that he campaigned on.”
It is possible Trump will offer a preview for his speech today about his decision regarding the Iran nuclear deal. Trump speaks negatively about the deal on a regular basis, and he is expected to decertify it later on. While this won’t completely scrap the deal, it would mean he has determined that Iran has failed to comply with their terms, and Congress will have to determine a course of action.
