WATCH LIVE: Press Briefing by White House COVID-19 Response Team and Public Health Officials

The White House Covid-19 Response team is holding a press briefing at 12:15 on Tuesday, February 2nd, which is the first back-to-back briefing for public health officials tasked by President Joe Biden to help abate the spread of Covid-19 and ramp up the delivery of vaccines.

The Biden Administration’s stated goal has been to average 1 million vaccines administered each day for the first 100 days. That goal was established before Biden was sworn in, but in the days that preceded the inauguration, there were a few days where that goal had already been met.

During a Monday press conference that featured Dr. Anthony Fauci, new CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Andy Slavitt announced a new over-the-counter home Covid test that features 95% accuracy and a less invasive nasal swab will be available for consumers this month. The DoD is investing $230 million into the company behind the testing kits, Ellume, in hopes that by year’s end, 100 million will be in the consumer marketplace.

The specific agenda for Tuesday’s press event has not yet been revealed.
