CNN’s Scott Jennings Says Left Has ‘Violence in Its Heart’ After Comey Ignites ’86 47′ Uproar

CNN analyst and former Republican congressman Scott Jennings accused the left of having violence in their hearts this week when responding to the continuing firestorm over a social media post from former FBI director James Comey.

Comey posted an Instagram photo of seashells arranged in the numbers 8647 to his Instagram account earlier this week, causing a fierce reaction on the right over the perceived implication that the message was calling for violence against President Donald Trump.

Jennings shared an article from the New York Post, in which writer Karol Markowicz noted that the numbers are being used in a specific way at a variety of anti-Trump events:

In Holland, Mich., Redmond, Ore., and elsewhere, grinning marchers wore shirts and carried placards emblazoned with the number “8647,” pairing the old slang term for murder with a 47 for Trump.

One 8647 protester stood right alongside Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison in Minneapolis.

“Hands off or heads off,” read the message on a life-size guillotine paraded about in Denver.

The article goes through other recent examples, including left-wing support for accused assassin Luigi Mangione, widespread vandalism and violence directed at Elon Musk and Tesla, and other recent stories, prompting a sweeping generalization from Jennings.

“The Left has violence in its heart,” he wrote. “Ugly stuff.”

His replies were filled with those pointing out violence on the right, with January 6 featuring prominently.

In the past, even hinting at soliciting or condoning violence by a public figure would widespread condemnation, particularly among those in the media.
