Rep. Dave Min (D-CA) received backlash on Saturday after he published a social media post falsely claiming that the suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk had been “identified as MAGA” and was on the “RADICAL RIGHT.”

“Now that the Charlie Kirk assassin has been identified as MAGA, I’m sure Donald Trump, Elon Musk and all the insane GOP politicians who called for retribution against the ‘RADICAL LEFT’ will now shift their focus to stopping the toxic violence of the RADICAL RIGHT,” wrote Min in a social media post on Friday.

As of Saturday evening, the post had yet to be removed, even after Utah Gov. Spencer Cox’s announcement that suspect Tyler Robinson had been “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” and reports that the shooter’s bullet casings had been engraved with anti-fascist references.

“This is a very real tweet by California Democrat Dave Min… Dave Min is either intoxicated, a completely unhinged Blue-Anon conspiracy theorist – or both,” reacted the National Republican Congressional Committee, while U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon protested, “You are a foul liar, and a reprehensible person.”

“Sitting Democrat US Congressman are actively spreading disinformation about the left-wing assassin and I’m not hearing the left-wing media or other Democrats do anything whatsoever to stop it,” weighed in Fox News contributor and editor of The Federalist Mollie Hemingway.

Min’s post received more than 3,000 replies criticizing the false accusation.

There is currently no evidence to suggest that the suspect “identified as MAGA” or was on the “RADICAL RIGHT.”
