Fox News Host Blames Biden For ‘Lack Of Senate-Confirmed’ Ambassadors as Ted Cruz Holds Up Several Nominees
Fox News hosts put the blame squarely on the Biden administration for the atrocities going on between Hamas and Israel because of a lack of action on the part of President Joe Biden, and a lack of Senate-confirmed U.S. ambassadors to the region.
On Tuesday’s Outnumbered, Emily Compagno accused the Biden administration of having “a tepid relationship with Israel” and of ignoring “thus far, our greatest ally,” before launching into the lack of qualified U.S. personnel equipped to handle the recent atrocities.
Compagno said:
(Biden) has set the tone for a lack of response, lack of Senate-confirmed ambassadors to Israel, to Kuwait, to Oman, to Egypt, and more. The top human rights envoy position, the assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor, has been unfilled for entirety of the Biden administration. USAID has not had a top Middle East official in nearly three years…Note that those in place are not in contrast to maybe public position, we are well-equipped and will lead a response worthy of these atrocities. I wonder who. Because the people in those positions are interim. They are not equipped and they are not Senate confirmed.
However, Biden nominated Jack Lew to be ambassador to Israel more than a month ago and was reportedly hoping to have him confirmed by Oct. 18. Lew is a former Treasury secretary and White House chief of staff during the Obama administration. NBC News reported that it was Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) who was holding up the Senate confirmations, not the Biden administration: “Senate Republicans will have influence over how long it could take to confirm Lew, and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who has been holding up several Middle East nominations, has raised concerns about Lew specifically.”
According to a spokesperson for Cruz:
Sen. Cruz has not yet interviewed Mr. Lew, let alone had the opportunity to question him in the context of testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Sen. Cruz has said since the summer that it was becoming impossible to expeditiously advance Biden administration nominees because those nominees keep lying to Congress and the American people, testifying publicly that they are committed to countering Iran and deepening the U.S.-Israel relationship then implementing the opposite policies in secret once confirmed. He will evaluate Lew’s nomination against the backdrop of those concerns.
Other nominees mentioned by Compagno that are awaiting votes or committee hearings are: U.S. ambassador to Oman, Kuwait, State Department’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism, U.S. Ambassadors to Egypt, and the assistant administrator for the Middle East at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
