‘Get Rid of Him, Go!’ Steve Bannon Calls For Speaker Johnson’s Ouster If Bill Passes to Keep Government Open
Former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon called for the Republican Party to “get rid” of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) if the House votes to pass a continuing resolution to keep the government funded.
“Okay. I’m not making this up. I’m not making this up. They’re taking a snow day tomorrow. They’re taking a snow day tomorrow,” began Bannon on his far-right War Room podcast.
“The House votes are canceled tomorrow with snow on the way. It has snow. I mean, you got a couple inches from that. It’s quite cold. It’s called winter. They’re taking a snow day tomorrow. So taking a snow day, they’re going to jam in a CR,” he added.
CNN’s Manu Raju reported soon after Bannon spoke that indeed the U.S. Senate did pass a bill to keep the government funded. “77-18, Senate approves stop-gap to keep the government open until early March. House will pass the plan later today and avert a shutdown for now,” Raju reported.
“This shows you the irresponsibility if Johnson pulls these tricks. Hey, our thing is get rid of him. Go! You’re not the man for the moment. People say, Steve, you can’t say that, ‘He just got in.’ No, no. A leader will emerge. That’s what happens in these turnings. Leaders emerge,” Bannon declared, adding:
You know, people that are on the margin come back and those people are, you know, people on the margin, people you never thought about. You know, Grant was a drunk. Lee was down fighting Comanches in, in, in Texas. People emerge. Sherman was down, I think was LSU, what is now LSU. Running a military academy.
